Meet Tanya
Artist.
Facilitator.
Advocate.
Hi, I'm Tanya Mac. I built TMAC Arts on one simple belief: creativity can help people process life, understand their emotions, and reconnect with themselves and others.
Where Creativity Meets Advocacy
Art has always been a place where I could make sense of what I was feeling. Over time, I realized that creative expression does something powerful for many people. When words fall short, art opens the door. It creates space for honesty, reflection, and sometimes even healing.
That idea became the foundation for TMAC Arts.
Through creative workshops and mental health awareness trainings, I work with individuals, organizations, and communities to explore how creativity can support emotional well-being, connection, and resilience.
"Art cannot solve everything, but it can open conversations that might never happen otherwise. And often that is where growth begins."
More Than a Decade of Experience
In addition to my work as an artist, I have spent more than a decade facilitating evidence-based trainings focused on mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and stress management. These programs help people recognize when someone may be struggling, understand how to respond, and build practical skills that support healthier communities.
My approach blends art, conversation, and practical mental health education. I've worked alongside people carrying a great deal of invisible weight — first responders, veterans, community members, and individuals navigating trauma, stress, and major life transitions.
Why I Do This Work
My commitment to mental health and creative expression is deeply personal.
Over the years, I have lost people I cared about to suicide. Those losses changed how I see the world and reinforced the importance of paying attention to the struggles people carry — often quietly and alone.
I have also faced my own challenges with mental health and continue to work through them. Like many people, my path has included moments of doubt, stress, and learning how to navigate life in healthier ways.
Those experiences pushed me to learn more, become involved in evidence-based mental health education, and create spaces where honest conversations can happen without judgment. Through TMAC Arts, I strive to do better, be better, and help others do the same.
My hope is that this work encourages people to check in with themselves, support those around them, and recognize that growth is always possible.
What Makes TMAC Arts Different
🎨 Art as Access
Creative expression isn't just activity — it's a way in. Art gives people permission to feel, process, and speak about things they might never put into words. Tanya built her workshops around this truth.
🧠 Evidence-Based Practice
Every mental health training offered through TMAC Arts is grounded in evidence-based curricula. This isn't feel-good fluff — it's practical education that saves lives and strengthens communities.
❤️ Lived Experience
Tanya doesn't teach from a textbook alone. She teaches from a life that has included loss, struggle, and growth. That honesty makes a difference in every room she walks into.
